Not too long ago, a new asthma drug came out. It is better than Prednisone as it does not have the side effects the latter has. However, one of the differences between these two drugs is that Singulair is preventive while Prednisone not only can prevent an attack but can stop it once it has started.

Nevertheless, even though Singular is a safer drug, it may take weeks before it starts to give you maximum results while Prednisone takes about  twenty-four hours to give you  immediate results.

There are some side effects to this drug and they may include allergic reactions, swelling of your face, lips and tongue, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, numbness, tingling or pain, rash, bruising or open sores, and your respiratory symptoms may deteriorate.

If you suffer from any of the above symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. Do not brush it off. These symptoms can develop life threatening situations in a very short time, and you don't want to risk your life more than it is already at risk with the asthma.

You also have to look for upset stomach, diarrhea, nasal irritation and sore throat. When any of the above is present, consult your physician.

For more information on the drug, ask your pharmacist for literature on the subject. Some pharmacies will provide you with written information on the drug you are taking.

Remember always to ask your doctor as many questions as needed. If you can't remember what is that you wanted to know while at your doctor's office, make a list of questions ahead of time and bring it with you to your appointment. The more you know, the more you can control the condition.

Ask people you know if they have heard of this drug and what have they heard about it. Research books, and go online to do further research. Understand what are the side effects of this drug and make sure you know what other drugs this one will interact with. And above all, trust what you know about any type of drugs. If you feel uncomfortable with it, you should let your doctor know and you should tell him why you have reservations.

Singular is by far the safest drug there is.  The side effects mentioned above are very uncommon and can be handled by your doctor.  Singulair is possibly the best preventive medication around at this time.
